Sakhnin Innovation Elementary School

The first project of a green educational campus in the city of Sakhnin in the Galilee region of northern Israel. This school will be the first LEED certification in the Arab-Israeli community and will serve as a model for sustainable development for these communities. The 3,530 square-meter elementary school is part of a pilot project with the Israeli Ministry of Education. The concept is for community elders to work with the schoolchildren through various educational programs that build skills and intergenerational relationships. In addition to LEED Gold, the school is seeking Israeli 5281 certification and SEED certification, and the project includes a major social equity effort that includes community engagement, resilience, health and well-being, and more.
